Thinking about a 7.3.. input plase
well i had been looking for a half ton for some time now but then all of a sudden i saw this f250 with a 7.3 and i knew i had been looking for the wrong truck!
the truck has a 7.3 with 220,000 miles i think its like a 2000. looks like it might have a new bed so that's real clean but the whole truck is pretty clean (lot better then my bronco! haha) it has a eight foot western plow which i could put to use. the guy wants 9000 for i think it might be a little much im thinking more like 7500 but what do i know im young and this would be my first diesel. interior is full of stains.. kinda gross but id just have to put seat covers on which i don't mind. i have not driven it but my dad said he actually talked to the guy for me earlier in the week and said it was in great running condition. i really want this truck it'd be an awesome truck for some one my age (19) but i don't want to be irrational about this and blow a bunch of cash if its not worth it.
if i were to buy this what would i want to do to it maintenance wise such as change oil ect...
i do have a full time job so moneys not a huge deal but how much am i looking at to keep this thing running?
well anyway tell me what you guys think.. i live in philadelphia area if that helps with the pricing at all. thanks a lot guys!

Welcome to Diesel Bombers!
Make sure it's in good running condition. Ask the owner to let you see it on a cold start. This will give you a little insight on the condition of the truck... Look for struggled starts, smoke etc...
Get out and drive it. Make sure the transmission is in good shape. Get under it and look for leaks.
For maintenance, you will want to do what you would do with any other vehicle when you first buy it, change all the fluids that way you know you are starting fresh.
Ask the previous owner about his maintenance habits and such.
Hope that helps...Also you may want to do some searching in the 7.3 section, plenty of good information in there about maintenance, mods and such...

Nice nice, I bought my first diesel at the age of 19, only a year ago , haha but i bought my 07 Ram with the 5.9, 62k miles and i was a bit hasty and bought it, after a few weeks came to realize the truck was wrecked and the previous owner was a ******** and just did a shitty job fixing it so he could sell it. got mud on my hood thats cracking underneath the paint so next spring whole front end of my truck is getting done along with a new bed since the ******* cut the ball hitch about and just put a patch in then sprayed a liner down to hide it. So my point I'm making is, go over the truck with a fine tooth comb. Don't over look anything. But you will love your diesel, i will never go back to a gasser, even tho my truck is in need of work, i love it, and fixing it up will just make it even more of my own.
