However; They might have not broke it in from new! I Was taught when you get a new Diesel Truck you drive it like you stole it! My advice is for your first either buy new or find your truck preowned from Fleet duty. They night have hard miles put on them but their cheaper and broke in properly. plus you can find the interior from a salvage yard or buy new, and paint it whatever color you like. plenty of room for your personal touch and Ideas on a custom truck tailored to you.
Bad advice is easy to get. I normally wouldn't take a person to task like this but this is just one of too many untrue rumors that have been around for years. Whoever "taught you" to drive a new engine like you stole it was wrong. Show me one engine manufacturer that provides any information like that. As a mechanic I would say, give me one good reason why you would do this and then back it up with proof. The only thing in that response that made any sense was the statement about mileage not being much of a factor. Diesel engines are relatively new to a lot of people. Get advice from somebody that has a successful track record of long life engines and trucks.
My opinion here.
Stay safe out there.
