01-02 would be a nightmare to work out, you would have to swap out a bunch or harness and computers.

since his is a 04 it would be the easiest, you could almost just swap a complete one in

yeah HD thats what i was tellin him, that since its an 04 it would be easier to swap an entire engine in vs trying to use his short block and do it all with it still in the body

Ok so even though a full engine swap would be easier, I like to be different and I think a LBY7 would be pretty cool. I guess the main reason for this thread was just because I wanted to learn about how it COULD be done and what would be required to make it work.

parts required to make it work = everything from a LLY except the short block

then just swap your engine wiring for the LLY wiring and your set, at least thats the way i take it from reading the other thred

so basicly when your done it will be an LLY in a LB7 body since the differences in the short blocks are minimal

Long story short these guys say it can be done for about the same price as doing 8 new lb7 injectors. Look for the guy named Hawk355, he says that he has done this conversion but there are also a few more on there who have too.

i remember reading this a little while ago. if i remember correctly somewhere several pages in the guy corrects one of his earlier posts and explains that the LB7 FICM was able to control the LLY injectors just fine even though the voltages are higher. he apparently discussed this with a Bosch engineer and he said the higher voltage of the LB7 FICM wont damage the LLY injectors. he had also been running them for several years with no problems.

if the above is correct then its just the heads, injectors, injector harness and fuel lines to make it work.

sounds like it could be a worthwhile investment
