2006 Liberty Jeep CRD
good morning guys. ..the 2.8 liberty crd is still working fine! although last Fri night I was going up a hill and decited to burn out some carbon (something I never done before )...I don't think it was a good idea! as the revs started to drop on the climb in od, I hit the fuel to the floor ... did not go to passing gear, as maybe I was past that point of speed..so I hit the od/direct button ...she kicked in just past the 3000 rpm for a second or so..then the limp Mode. it did not shut down, I finished the hill (on the Hwy) I put it in neutral turned the key off than on re started with out stopping..all was fine again..4 days later still working fine..the code read po234 boost pressure negtive deviation.
Thanks

100k miles and ya need to do timing belt, not an option..... interference motors and bad things happen when timing belts break. As for your run up the hill, could be a small boost leak, or plugged up egr valve causing poor boost performance.
This sounds very similar to a problem I had with a VW TDI 10 years ago. Normal level ground driving was fine. But when you needed more on a hill or to pass the engine would go into limp mode.
It turned out to be a very small vacuum leak in a T connector. What was happening was the ECU would tell the electronic valve to open the actuator on the turbo vein but there wasn't enough vacuum to perform the operation. The boost sensor didn't see the pressure the ECU was expecting so it would drop it down to limp mode and throw a code.
