Of course, they weren't putting catalytic converters on them in the 80's.

The OP has an '05 Dodge Cummins. Thanks for being so unhelpful!!

I have a question for y'all.. If I came accross from canuck land without my DPF and strait piped, What would happen if they checked mine? If it did not pass would they impound the truck, fine, or just tell ya to beat it? I would assume it depends on the states laws but I was wandering what could happen...Or in other words which states should I avoid..

I'd say it depends on how much trouble you get in (For them to throw the 'book' at you that hard!). If you are just passing through there would be no reason for them to look at your truck or to have you do any 'testing' on it. If you plan on moving in to stay, then you will have to abide by the rules that county has in place. (Now California is a different story! They may write you a ticket just for smoking even if you just drive through. . . . )

Look here for a pic of the band clamps I used in mine. It is very easy and fast to change out or add components with these. I like them a lot and plan on always having them in my exhaust systems from now on!

Nothing. Your vehicle is not subject to EPA and DOT laws unless you plan to import it long-term (something like more than 90 days).

Just because they look to see that there's a cat on there, dosn't mean there has to be anything in it.
