Default starting problem

I have a 2005 F-350 with a 5-speed manual trans. ONLY when the truck is cold or (every morning), When I turn the key it makes a whining noise a few times as I try turning the key and then suddenly it grabs the fly wheel and I'm running. ONLY When cold....The low temp is 50s only here at night in N.California. Any Ideas Guys?

Check all starter connections, battery cables ect. sounds like the starter is not engaging into the flywheel. i have seen it happen where it was just a bad connection and it could not pull the amperage it needed, and i have also seen bad starters do that. (more often than not a bad starter)
