update since its been cold out it dies at random times at every minute sometimes. thinking about it if dies without wipers, yes it does die accually sometimes. All Stock No mods 225000 miles. only get 14 mpg if that helps. glowplugs are fine. Have to wait whole glow plug time even warmed up or wont start. had cps sensor replaced twice. had new injection computer as well.

14mpg isnt really abnormal, you'll hear guys saying they get 18-20+ mpg with their STOCK truck, they're blowing smoke up your @$$

I'm thinking a possibility of a weak oil system now . Has the truck ever had a set of injectors? High pressure oil pump? ICP sensor or IPR?

Jeeze I'll agree with you there, but fortunately mine does the opposite haha. I'm getting anywhere from 14-17 around town to 17-21 highway (21 was achieved on I80 East in Ohio with a good tailwind on stock tires with the cruise on 70, and everything in my sig)

My 94, I got 20 running 90 with a 45 MPH tail wind. Exhaust, intake, and super chip. But my dually sucks. I wanna try doing 75 and see what that gets me. Then empty trailer and then loaded.

I get better fuel mileage when running tranny fluid as fuel. But i still get about 17 in town on regular fuel. Not bad for an 8k pound vehicle. But as far as cold starting with a 7.3 its normally either glow plug relay or service related like oil changes or fuel filter. But if the buzz test isn't passing then that should be addressed first.

I'm sure it loves that

before this turns into a fuel mpg thread like the 20 others on here......

He stated that the glow plugs and relay tested fine. Only 2-3 injectors are buzzing, with 225k on the truck it's WELL overdue for a set anyway. Life expectancy is only about 150k, a little more if you do regular maintenance.

I'm also thinking voltage changes in the system (turning the wipers on) is enough to bug a possibly failing IDM Or that multifunction switch in the steering column has something to do with it...
