Well I just bought a 99 7.3 without a transmission and I have big plans down the road for this truck. I am planning on doing a cummins swap and I am wanting a beefy transmission to back it. But I am going to be running the 7.3L for quite awhile yet but if possible I would like to get the components I want for my swap started now. I've heard the 4R100's are good trannys until you start pushing power and that they will need to be beefed up but would prefer the 5 speed and strength out of the box. Anyone know what it would take to make it work?

 

A stand alone controler is the only way to make it work...

You would be better off building up a 4r100 in the long run, which will also require a PCS controler to work with the 5.9...
