Default 7.3 sometimes sluggish

Hello,
When normal driving sometimes I have to push the throttle down farther then normal to get my truck to move. It seems very sluggish. Once, when I towed an 8,000 lb. boat, it did it then too. It would hardly go up the hill. . . . .
Does anyone know what might cause this? It is random and intermittent. There is no warning, no warning lights, no smoke, and no other symptoms.
It has a NEW fuel filter, air filter and even a new oil filter.
It DOES have a chip that has been there since it had 100,000 miles. I dont know what chip it is.
Thank you!
Dennis

Could be the EBPV... Exhaust back pressure valve... But you would hear a change in the exhaust tone if that was closing...

could also be a plugged or plugging pickup tube on the fuel system... Would have to watch the fuel pressure when its doing it to know for sure.

Plugged fuel system. . . That is gonna be harder to diagnose, as I dont have any way to gauge that. But thank you, I will look at BOTH. . . . . .
Thanks again,
Dennis
