Default 7.3 powerstroke head gasket

driving the truck down the road and noticed the temp jumped from 190 to 290 like in a split sec. now i have white smoke out of the exhaust and smells
like coolant. i think its a head gasket but what are your guys opinion. show i do a compression test or what first please help thanks

stockish truck I would suspect an injector cup not headgasket...

Do a compression check and go from there. Head gaskets almost never fail in a 7.3.

what kinda compression should there be like how high

Depends on the motor... Mine right now is between 320 and 360 for all... And that is considered low. 360+ is what I would expect on a healthy motor.

Do you have any kinda chip or anything on it.

This is exactly what happened to my truck a year ago. Ended up with all 8 injectors cracked and both heads cracked everywhere. Just happened out of no where with no warning.

I hope your your sake its just an injector cup.

it has only of those bully dogs six position on it. its my buddies truck and im working on it for him. do u have to pull the glow plug for the compression check or the injector and thanks guys for your help

Glow plugs, the adapter goes in the glow plug hole...

well i did it today and i got 390 to 410. on 1 through7 and number 8 wa about 490
