Default 00-02 powerstroke

hey guys, i'm looking at getting a 00-02 powerstroke. having a crew cab is important to me, as i have children, and having a 4x4 is important as well because i have to use it in some unpleasant conditions at times, as well as they are just more fun! i cant spend more than 15-16k though, so i'm limited to trucks that are mostly north of 200k. i was wondering what kinds of problems some of you have had with these trucks, and what types of problems are common. i'm new to the performance diesel truck scene, but i'm definately hooked!

you should be able to find a truck with WAYYY less miles then that for 16k easy, the market has kinda fallen out for diesels in the last year or so...the powerstrokes are known to have their injector wiring harness to work loose, the front axle on the F-250 are kinda a bad design but if you but a F-350 you get a dana 60 up front...there is just little things

thats not really the big of deal unless your wanting to pull with it reguraly there not weak or anything its just kind of weird design...other wise those trucks are built pretty good, I know my dad just found a 05 with 150k on it for like 9 grand but thats a 6.0 and you would be better off with 7.3 (which is why i told him not to buy it)

I bought my 2000 f250 for 11k with 138k miles on it and the only problem I've had was the clutch packs in my transmission went out so I had the whole thing rebuilt by ATS which I recommend to everyone who needs a transmission rebuilt I got mine done for $3,600 and they take everything out boil it to clean everything and paint it purple rebuild everything with their high performance parts a new torque converter a billet input shaft and a deep pan on it and it comes with a 5 year/500,000 mile warranty

i bought my 01 F-250 last nov. for 9500 with 125k and the only problem ive had with it so far is the glow plug relay (pretty cold in winter here). i am very happy with the truck. it took me a long time to find the right deal though. be patient and good luck hope you find a nice truck!
