01 7.3 cold start problems

Default 01 7.3 cold start problems

Hey guys new to this page ive been having cold start problems only when temp is below 45 i replaced gp relay along with the gp replaced valve cover harness as well check batteries new starter an im still having this problem .. Truck cranks hickups like it wants to start but nothing .. Alot of white smoke as well ..also once pluged in over night truck fires up no problem .. An once truck sits like at work for 8hrs or so in winter she will not kick over if not plugged in help me pl before winter comes

Find a scan tool and watch your ICP as your starting it.

You need a scan tool. The IPR could be hanging up and not allowing the pump to build pressure.

Is my maco scanner suitable an what am i looking for ? Also i checked icp an there was oil on connector so im assuming its bad or going bad right ?

I was going to suggest unplugging it and see it it starts any better, but it shouldn't have any oil in it. It could be going bad

So if my icp is bad this will make the truck hard to start when cold ? Im gunna have to try unplugging the icp tomorrow morning ..like even tho temps are in 60s over night once it cranks over it does like an idle surge once or twice then Clears up

If its not reading the correct pressures then it could. They injectors have to have enough pressure before they will fire.
