I just put in a stage 2 ATS transmission that shifts very hard from 2nd to 3rd gear. When talking to ATS they tell me this is normal however if wanted they can make it shift softer by changing out some parts. Does anyone out there have this problem? I hate to spend the money to R&R it if this is normal performance. This is a head jerking shift.

 

Whats your chip? I ran into this once. DP tuner not tuned for a built trans. It would shift fine under hard acceleration but just easy driving 1-2 would bark the tires and snap your neck. Had tunes rewrote to keep line pressure in spec and worked like a dream.

 

Never heard anything good about ATS

 

I have a 99 7.3 that shifts really 2nd and 3rd gear i dont under stand y it this happening if anyone know y please i have a ts 6 postion chip that helps i run it hard it gets hard the higher rpm

Mine just drops it in from 2nd to 3rd. Gets worse as the rpms go up. I just turn overdrive off when im getting up to speed then turn it on.

 

If your truck is chipped, needs to be re-tuned or calibrated for the beefed up trans. If its not tuned, then your at the mercy of ATS.
