Ohh, that poor man, having a 'stroke, right there in traffic! (hahaha) From what I've picked up after many years of internet conversations, the 7.3 had annoying quirks right up until its last production year. The two that stick in my mind were the turbo bolts that would back out, and the "cackle" that seemed impossible to describe, diagnose or fix, but seemed to be injector-related. I never did figure out what that sounded like, since EVERY stroke either didn't have it, or they ALL had it, and the ones who thought they heard it were just hypochondriacs..... And, there was something about cavitation in the cooling system causing premature block damage near the cylinder walls. The prevention for that was an additive in the radiator water.
