Default 02 powerstroke?

I'm looking into buying a 02 7.3 powerstroke for a work pick-up but I just had a quick question to ask. I was talking with a buddy of mine and he tried telling me that the 02 powerstroke had lots of problems cause they put emission stuff on them. To the best of my knowledge I thought they didn't doing emission stuff tell the 03 6.0? I didn't feel like arguing with the guy so I thought I would ask u guys to be sure. Thanks

It's only has like 98000. Which I thought is nice. But would this 02 have much difference vs. the 99-01 7.3 powerstroke?

The 1999 & 2000 had stronger connecting rods

The earlier model Super Duties had Forged Rods, but the Powder Rods do fine unless you plan on drag racing your truck or doing tractor pulls. Most of the time, the pistons crack before the rods do. The 2002 will have an upgraded electrical system. Very minor though. The starter relay under the dash, digital odometer, etc. Sometime around the end of 2002 they also upgraded the UVCH with a better clip. Would be hard to if the one your looking at has this or not without taking the valve covers off though. Good luck, let us know how everything turns out.

the PMR's are still good for around 400 HP. but if you want more than that , the odds are you will do a engine build anyways so it won't be a issue.
