MY FORD 7.3 117K STALLED OUT AT HWY SPEED YESTERDAY COULD RESTART IT AND IT WOULD WOULD RUN ROUGH FOR A BIT AND THEN DIE AGAIN. WHEN STARTING IT WOULD ACT LIKE ITS STARVED FOR FUEL. NEW CPS X 2MO, RECENT OIL AND FUEL FILTER CHANGE X 2MO. REPLACED THE DRIVERS SIDE WIRE HARNESS UNDER VALVE COVER X2MO. WHEN CHECKING THE PROBLEM LAST NIGHT ON SIDE OF ROAD NOTICED OIL? (DIDNT SMELL LIKE DIESEL HARD TO TELL IN THE DARK) IN THE VALLEY AND KINDA SPRAYED AROUND FUEL FILTER AREA. NOTICED A FITTING THAT CONNECTS TO A PIPE AT THE Y FOR THE TURBO INLET AND ALSO CONNECTS TO 2 PLASTIC HOSES A YELLOW AND RED ONE IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY. RECONNECTED THIS HOSE TO THE PIPE BUT MY TRUCK WOULDNT RUN ANY BETTER. NEED TO GO BACK UP AND GET MY TRUCK OR TOW IT TODAY. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT. MIKE

 

If there is oil in the valley check the level with the dipstick. Sounds like you blew a HPO (High Pressure Oil) line. There are two, one goes to each side of the motor.

Without knowing ICP pressures and duty cycle its hard to guess. But my guess is it is HPO related.

 

Thx it ended up being the o rings on the hpop lines lost 9 qts oil on my 100 mile drive. No oil light and I don't remember the oil pressure fluctuating? Cost more to tow than fix. Thx mike

 

The oil light will not come on... Nor will 9qts cause the oil pressure gauge to do a thing.

Hope you didnt damage the injectors with all that air.

 

Yeah no kidding seems to run fine now but I sent an oil sample anyhow although that won't tell me anything about injectors I believe.
