Default 96 PSD White smoke and rough idle HELLPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK! I'm new to the psd world i guess i can say.. i have a 96 F-250 7.3l psd with 300,000 miles, stock except 4'' exhaust to stack and suspention.. anyway!

I've had the truck about two months now and i absaloutaly love her! i haul around a 16x7 Landscape trailer basically daily. EVERRYY THING WAS FINNE! NO PROBLEMS! NO BURPS OR FARTS! AND BAM!!! I turn the corner and she start's blowwwinnn white smoke and missing a little, so i shut her off because im in front of a customers house number one and 2 becuase im like WTF!? So i let it sit did my cut came back and started it up and it did the same so i towed it,, after reading and checking it out i see someone before me did the "10k mod" what that is if you dont know is a resistor wired inline with the ICP, And tricks the PCM into thinking its not getting enough fuel and blah blah, so i took that off and first thought was ... ok its fried because of that 0.99 mod, so i replace that and still same issue.. then i replace the IRP and still the same. its blowing whitish grey smoke and missing and either fuel or oil in coming out of the exhaust pipe. so today i pulled the valve cover and pulled a injector and the o rings look ok?? By the way the injector wire plug that plugs into the injector was full of oil inside the injector plug housing?? PLEASSEE HELP! DO I HAVE BAD INJECTOR? O RING? OR PISTON RINGS? I did the test where i fliped the oil cap and it didnt blow off.

ANY INFO WOULD BE SO MUCH APPRECIATED GUYS!

THNAKS IN ADVANCE!

it could be a bad injector getting stuck open. most of the time when orings go out it will smoke blue really bad. Check your fuel filter and make sure its not plugged up. and dont worry about oil in the plug its normal. did you run low on fuel because it will do this if you run it almost out of fuel. like to were its spuddering

ok and yes that is the right filter. Check your coolant for oil or diesel fuel, but i doubt its the head gasket, i would bet its an injector issue

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

let me also ad that my truck would do this when i used the cheap low grade fuel but i would just keep going and it would smooth out and go away

thats what everrryyything is turning me towrds, But injectors are $1,800 and i highly doubt it's all 8 ya know?... and just for it to happen out of nowhere?.. i'm leaning more towards a gp harness issue or glow plgs them self being that i have no idea if they have been repalced nor the injectors with 300,000 idk what all has been done. But before this issue the truck ran absaloutaly incredible! not a second of hesitation or trans slip or anyything! Runs like a top. And it's bull **** it's down because A. I'm loosing money having ''now'' my main truck down for over a week now. and B. I have alllll this **** to put on like my TS 6 Position Chip, 4'' Down Pipe to 5'' Straight pipe to 8'' single stack. Bank's Quick Turbo with the 1.00 Housing and a new Pedestoule with the evp delete and Tri-Pillor gauges and and and!!!!!!!!!!!!! bs!!1

And i dont use cheap grade fuel?... it's diesel so it's all the same i thought... and i do put additive in it with every time i fill both tanks on up

i would try to get a scanner on it and see what you can find. And if it was the glow plugs it would only act up when its cold. It could just be one or a few injectors but if they are original they are really in need of replacement. I would delete that 10k mod first and see if that helps. If you still have the valve covers off go start the truck and see if all the injectors are pumping oil. As for cheap fuel we have the conoco and shell which i consiter good fuel but we also have western and u pump it which is 3 pennies cheaper but its low grade, its smells bad unlike the good grade diesel. Im not sure if its like this in all parts of the country but were im from thats how it is.

I took the 10k mod off a while ago. And when this happened i had figured that because of that resistor it may have fried the ICP so i replaced that right off the rip, did'nt work so i did the IRP, still had the issue. Any way i had a buddy that's a Master Diesel Tech and he stopped by when i wasent there and scanned it with his AE Scanner and said that he did the Injector check and buzzed them all and i guess manually actuated them indavidually and said that they were all functioning properly. And he said he checked the oil blow by and said it was smoking....SO his Diagnosis is that it has bad Piston Ring's....... I JUST CAN'T GET IT THRU MY HEAD AND PHYSICALLY BELEIVE THAT IT COULD BE BAD RING'S! How can ring's go bad in a snap of a finger!?? No symptom's..no hickup's no missing,no rough idle no engine lights NOT A THING! Like i said i was driving alll day like i do everyday with my trailer and turned the corner and BAM! It just started smoking like a pig and running rough and knocking a little. Oil level is good, ect. SO if i changed the ICP,IRP what could it be?? I pulled the driver side valve cover off and started the truck up and all of the cylinders were pumping properly it lookes like. So could it be the valve cover gasket?? Where they have the plug to go from the harness to the injector plug? I heard those can go bad. The plug's dont look to be burnt or corroded on either end. So i pulled one injector out and i cant tell if the o-ring's are bad or not??? to me they don't look to be torn or damadged...... Idk! How can i check the injectors? or o-ring's i dont have a compression tester, I sapose i can rent one. But what's your thought on ring's going bad out OF NOWHERE WITH NO PRE SYMTOMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!? Because It's pretttyy coastly to replace all the injector's or ring's.. AND I NEEDD MY TRUCK BACK ON THE ROAD ASAP! Unless i just get it towed to a local diesel shop i know of, and i guess the guy is allll Powerstroke and thats what he specializes in, I just don't know who i can trust to give me the honest diagnosis. Because alot of shops tell you the problem but then add on anyyy little thing els to make you freak out and then they RAPE YOU ON PRICE!

What about the Glow Plug relay? Mabey replace with a OEM Relay (A VERY common failure point)
Or the Valve cover Gaskets (2) (The gaskets themselves are frequently re-usable, but the electrical connector which is an integral part of the gasket often gets melted.)

Or the Internal UVC wire harnesses (These are the harnesses that go under the valve covers and provide power to the glow plugs and injectors - these harnesses frequently go bad)
And change the 4 External harness connectors with pigtail wiring - these connectors often fail because of oil intrusion into the connection due to bad gaskets.

Think that possibly if i do a rebuild on this that it could be the issue? Or the Glow Plug Relay Malfunctioning? Or how about that small two wire relay that comes off off the harness that runs both directions to each valve cover?

you cant accuate the injectors without taking them out and having them tested on a flow bench. I highly doubt ur rings are shot. I would get the injectors flow tested, replace the glow plug rely, replace valve cover gaskets.
