Default White smoke?!? Diagnosis?

I have a 2001 2500 dodge CTD 6 speed HO with a brand spanking new vp44. I cranked it this morning and started rough idle for about 30-45 seconds then cleared up. Next, i was at a stop light and revved up at a rice burner and noticed a puff of white grayish smoke. I put some diesel kleen in it and starts fine now but still has that lil puff of white smoke when i rev it up. Also ive noticed at times the exhaust has that same smell when my vp44 died. Anyone know a probable diagnosis? Thanks -Scott
