i have a 95 and and 01. both chipped, both cold air kits, both stainless exhaust. other than that, both are pretty much stock. we tow very heavy, and my 95 will get consistent 1 to 2 mpg better towing, and will get 2.5mpg just the truck. the 01 has way more power not towing, but towing they are pretty close but you have to wind the 95 up more to make power with it when towing but its a manual where the 01 is an automatic. the 01 rides better, quieter, radio is better etc. its ony 6 years newer, but seems that ford came along ways in those 6 . i personally probalby wont buy another obs truck after my 95 dies, but until then, i'm going to keep on trucking with it!!

It does look like the big photo but the turbo is not a rust color, and it is an IDI, is it considered a powerstroke if it was made 11/93 and sold in early 94.

some are rust color some are not. no some 94 say "turbo diesel" and not powerstroke, even if it is a powerstroke. i think they just used them til they ran out. 85-305. just because it says turbo, doesn't mean powerstroke. the 3 engines in 94 are the 7.3 IDI, 7.3 turbo diesel, and 7.3 powerstroke. all different. if you have enough wires and hoses on your engine to gift wrap a school bus, it's probably not a powerstroke.

No an IDI is not a powerstroke. it is a turbo IDI... The turbo diesel badges came on late 94 powerstrokes. Then they swapped to powerstroke badges.

Default a little confusing

You said the 3 engines in 94 are the 7.3 IDI, 7.3 turbo diesel, and 7.3 powerstroke. what the hell is mine if it is a 7.3 IDI with a Turbo ? doesnt the 8th character in the VIN tell the story ? Mine has a K and I heard some are an F.

yours is a turbo diesel, non powerstroke. is your oil fil cap in the center of the engine at the front or is it on the passenger side valve cover?

why cant I find a K and N cold air induction that fits that year ? is it possible to get any power out of that thing for the hills ? I like to go to the mountains a lot. I ordered a Pyrometer and a boost guage today so I dont burn up my motor when I turn the fuel pump up a few flats.
