Stock these things are dogs. Go test drive a 2011 or 2012 and then you will experience something with a bit more usable power.

I'll disagree with both of these points... Why don't you find out what kind of lope he is talking about before you just tell him it's normal and deal with it... It might not be normal... My truck loped on start ups for a few seconds when i first bought it, put in new injectors and no more lope, idles smooth....

Also, if you think 170 rwhp is "a lot of power" then you clearly need to get out more often... When modded anything can have any power you can afford. Speed is money, how fast you wanna go? I'll tell you these trucks stock are nothing to shake a stick at...

some might be a little quicker than others but they still aren't that fast.

What does speed have to do with power? If you think a powerstroke is a dog, go test drive a tractor trailer... those must have NO power since they are so slow.

Last I looked, no modern gasser pickup truck is hitting 440ft/lbs of torque from the factory with a powerband anything like a diesel.

Ever driven a 12v cummins? THATS slow.

While this is true, I did jump the gun on the whole lopey idle thing, 7.3's do have a distinct lope to them while running.. especially obs trucks.

Like I said previously, I didnt know power meant speed. And last I looked, torque was the calculation that equates to moving force, and hp is an imaginery number thats calculated by torque.

You can keep on dreaming all day long that an obs has a ton of usable power but what I am saying that compared to modern diesels they don't. My moms Volkswagen with a 3.0l diesel has more torque than an obs. Wake up and smell the roses. An obs isn't a powerhouse. I got one. I know. They're reliable but they'll never be called a powerful truck. Reliable is a better suited word for them.

They are called work horses.. plenty of torque, good, durable parts, and they live forever.

a 3.0 diesel? In what?

Alright fellas, Instead of mucking up this thread with opinions about if OBS pickups have power or not, Facts are they have 90cc injectors vs a Superduties 140cc...
