edge programmer setting?
no the edge and TS 6 will not go together . Get rid of that edge they are a computer killer alls its good for is clearing codes and diagnostics . if the the truck does have a chip mounted it will be under the dash drivers side under and around the fuse panel . Edge will only stack up with a few chips and i doubt it allready has one installed other than the edge . if you decide to keep the edge and fry your computer leave it on tow mode it will last a little longer iam speaking from exsperience i fried a perfectly good 96 with 50,000 miles on it and that computer is not cheap .

Will it fry the computer even if it is not being programed? want to go with ts 6 positon chip, after i get it done will i be able to use the edge for clearing codes ,running diagnostics or will it just just be a dust collecter?
No once the edge is put back on stock it is fine and yes you can still use it for clearing codes and diagnostics . The cost of the computer getting flashed should be around 160 to 200 bucks at a dealer or a diesel shop . And as for the TS 6 hold on to your *** cause you will get one hell of a ride . You will enjoy it hope this helps
Can I ask why you guys want him to reflash the PCM?
If he returns the truck to stock and then goes with a chip (a CHIP, not another programmer or fueling module, as they ARE NOT "chips"), then the current PCM programming doesn't matter one bit.
Don't try to program the PCM with a programmer while there is a chip hooked to the truck or you'll end up with a dead chip and dead PCM and that IS NOT repairable at that point.
Oh, and to the OP....
As long as you can handle the harsh shifting of the EVO programming, it doesn't hurt the truck a bit to daily drive it in that setting. In all honesty, with an OBS truck like you have, you don't really ever have to worry about EGT as long as you have the stock injectors.
