Can you exchange a Powerstroke engine for an IDI?

 

to swap out the whole engine for one or the other, ya its possible might take a little bit of work but you can get just about anything to work in anything

 

yeah it will no way be a direct swap, its a completely different engine, just out of curiosity why would you want to do that anyway? the powerstroke is a much better engine to have if you want performance and all

 

I have an IDI I want a powerstroke.

 

Ahh I see, well its gonna be some work to get it in there, wiring and all that good stuff, it will take some time

you need all the computers, better off to have a donor truck

 

i would just buy a powerstroke and sell the IDI, be cheaper and easier in the long run.....

 

Yeah, you'd need a computer, wiring and injector driver module. I'm not sure on the motor mounts and bell housing. But, by the time you go through everything you might as well just by a different truck. If you're bent on it you would really want to go with getting a donor truck. Some stuff is only compatible with specfic years.
