Won't start

Do you have a voltmeter? If so, try this - turn the key to RUN, then put the black probe of the voltmeter on a good ground, and the red probe on each of those two wires (5 and 8), one at a time. One of them should show 12 V. And hopefully the other one won't. Tell me which one shows the voltage.

I finally just said screw it an ran my own wire to the exciter on the starter. Thanks for all your help though man I really appreciate it.

That's a LOT of current to run through the cab/firewall. You should get the same results if you run it to the small terminal on the fender relay. The relay will carry the big current instead of running through your new wire.
