MPG

Yup, the people working for the EPA are just plain and simple idiots. Lets go ahead and mandate the emmisions of the new diesels so that they will pollute less (which is kinda a good thing if you believe in the whole global warming theory, emphasis on "theory"), but burn more fuel. Thats a great concept .
My folks have a 08 F-350 6.4/automatic 4x4 CC SRW 3.73 lsd with all the bells and whistles, and I'll tell you that thing is nice, I would trade my truck for it in a heartbeat. It has about 4000 miles on it now, and the best mpg the computer ever said it got was 15.5 mpg doing 60mph on I-5 north headed to Salem. Other than that, it will settle around 13mpg once we get back to our back road driving (we coming back from a trip when we headed up on I-5). I'll tell ya though right now, why would you expect something that has so much emmsions crap on it, with 350hp/650ft lbs, and some very crappy aerodynamics to get good fuel economy. Plus you can look at it like this, if you can affoard a $50k truck, you should be able to affoard the fuel for it.
You can get fuel economy out of them if your above something like 5000' elevation, like 2-3mpg better than at sea level. This is because the EPA doesnt mandate the emmissions above 5000' (or something around there), so the computer reads the elevation with a sensor, and if you go above that point your truck will get better fuel economy for some reason. This is what I've heard through the grape vine, is it true I dont know, but on average guys at higher elevations are getting like 2mpg better than guys at sea level.

Well I guess the Job 1 trucks are getting the worst fuel economy. Job 2 trucks have there lower valance extended a good 2", and on average they do 1mpg better, I think you can go to your dealer and have them put on in for you. Job 3 trucks which are now coming out come standard with a 3.55 gear ratio, because so many people have complained about fuel economy.
That being said my parents truck is getting better fuel economy. I went on basically the same I-5 trip as I stated before except going the other way, and at 60mph, the computer said it was doing 16.9mpg. The truck only has 5000miles on it. They will get better, just give it time to break in.
