My Dad has a 08 6.4 F-450 with 180K miles on it. This truck is loaded to the max every day. I deleted the DPF and added a Spartan tuner and it improved his mileage from 8.5 to 11 pulling 35K lbs. He truck will now melt the 19.5's with no problems.

He has had a few problems with the radiator and EGR Cooler. The last 100K have been trouble free. We are going to replaced the EGR Coolers with Coolers from here Ford Power Stroke 6.0L Parts Upgrades from BulletProofDiesel.com

I would still go with the 6.7 at the end of the day. I drove one the other day and loved the way it drove. It has many improvement over the 6.4. 6 head bolts per jug compared to 4 on the 6.4, Two cooling systems to keep the EGR's healthy, and many improvements to the truck. It also has manual mode for the trans that the 6.4 does not have. You can also remove the top end of the motor without pulling the cab.

The 6.7 is also getting better mileage then the Dodge or Chevy. The Ford is also the only one that build their own trans and engine and did not have to go to the Government for a bail out

Go with the 6.4 as long as you talk to the guys at Spartan and get their tunes. you can get about 23mpg and double the numbers. Usually the first year for motors are always rough so I'd wait on the 6.7

I gotta agree with a lot of people on here. Wait for a year or so till all the bugs get figured out on the new 6.7 and go buy a 6.4 if you must have a new truck. If you can settle for something older, you might be able to find a F-450 with a 7.3L in decent shape. Sure, it probably won't have leather seats, navigation, and all those other goodies but its a reliable motor and if you get the 6 speed manual, you'll have one hell of a transmission backing that motor. But if you must have new, get the 6.4L, do the DPF delete and get a Spartan tune and enjoy towing that trailer at 80 mph and look good doing it. That's my 2 cents. Good luck!

I can post pictures like that of all brands. I can say that around Houston, I see more gm's and dodges on the side of the road than I do Fords...

Well since most of this is useless opinions posted in here... how about some FACTUAL information.

If you're looking for a true F450, you need to get the 08 version. The new one's are just the glorified F350's. They are essentially an F350 tow boss with 450 badges on it. The 08-10 F450 is the last true 450 truck. Check out the specs between the two sometime.

I was alway under the assumption that real diesels were rated to pull well over 20k and never came with 8lugs.... The 6.7, 5.9's are like the allison in the duramax.... Just a name. Sure its the same name used in big rigs but its not in a big rig currently...

The F-450 and F-550 cab & chassis is still the same(Dana Super 60/Dana 110) but the engine will be detuned from the factory and only makes 300 hp and 660 lb-ft of torque and has a different turbo where the consumer versions(250-450) will make 735 hp and 390 lb-ft and have the new turbo. The consumer 450 has the Dana 60 front and Dana 80 rear just like the 350 and is only an 8 lug.

I couldn't find the article on Diesel Power mag's site but its in the June 2010 Issue, page 152, Tug-Of-War First Drive: '11 Super Duty.

735hp! haha, 390hp/735 tq I think you meant.

I believe the new consumer F450 (2011's) also wont come with the 19.5" wheels if I'm not mistaken...

Ok, I admit I made a mistake and got the numbers mixed up. Nothing to get excited about, I'm only human. And as for the wheels, I believe you are right, I think they are 17s.
