Default Cruise Control Inoperative Diagnose

Got around to making a video on this common complaint finally. Usually very frustrating as it can be intermittent more often than just totally inoperative. The number one cause of the cruise not working is the brake pressure deactivator switch. In this video I show you a simple way to test it as it is the first thing I look at when a car comes in the shop with cruise control issues. Hope this helps.

I have an 08 350 lariat and i have no horn, cruise, or radio control on my steering wheel. None of the buttons work at all. What could be the issues with that if youve ever ran into these problems?

Check the black with a violet stripe wire at pin 5 harness side of the clockspring connector it should be a constant ground. If that is ok then either the connectors for the control switches became unplugged under the airbag (unlikely) or the clockspring ribbon has broken. Either one would affect all the controls as they all rely on that same ground and you say all are inop. Check it out. Column shroud is easy enough to get off.

Ill definatly check this out. Thanks. So To access all of this i can just take the column shroud off? Also i have a code 19 for the airbag light and i was thinking it was causing the buttons to not work. Im new to the ford trucks and was also wondering if the front center cover with the small ford emblem where the airbag and horn would be pops off as well.

To pull the drivers air bad there is 2 8mm bolts on either side of steering wheel behind the circle finish caps. Make sure you depower airbag first. You will be able to access the clockspring by pulling the column shroud I believe all of those bolts are 5.5mm. LFC 19 is definitely the drivers airbag.
