Default Blue Smoke Driving Cold? Please help.

Truck is a 2006 F350 automatic 6.0l with 12500 miles and over 7000 hours (p.o was a company that idled alot. i know, its bad).

Anyways, When ever the truck is cold it will blow blue smoke.

It dosent make any sence to me. Here is a breakdown of when it blows smoke.

- It Does not blow any smoke at idle or at start up.
- It does not blow it while reved in neutral.
- It wont start blowing till about 1/4 mile into driving.
- It stops blowing smoke after about a mile and a half or 2 miles.
- It only blows smoke when the rpms are a little over 2k.
- It only blows when under load (taking off from stop sign).
- It stops blowing any smoke once its warm (after about 3 or 4 miles)

Any ideas about what could cause it to burn oil like this?
Thanks

Turbo seal could be leaking a little oil into the exhaust system, once it's hot enough it burns out before you see it possibly.

Read this too and see what you think https://www.dieselbombers.com/ford-p...lue-smoke.html

well you are the second person to suggest the turbo seal leaking. i will look into that.

Yea i know idling sucks. It has a CEL (p0401) because the egr cooler is plugged up. i will be replacing it with the bulletproof egr cooler in the spring. Im sick of the CEL staring me in the face every day.

Found the truck online. Im in IN and it was in TX. I never went to see the truck. Had it delivered. We had bought my dads 05 the same way 4 months prior to buying this 06. (the trucks are twins basicly. They worked for an oil well security system company).
Everything worked out great exept for one thing, through all the phone conversations with the dealer i never once thought to ask about how many hours it had on it. My dad has an 05 so i knew the engine hour meter existed, but it completly slipped my mind to ask about my trucks hours. not until it drove off the carrier and into my driveway did i sit in it and see how many hours were on it. "HOLY CRAP!" is what i said when i hit that little stick on the dash the second time.

The truck has done very well over the past year. Runs Great. just a couple little bugs, one of which is the blue smoke thing.

Yeah I would have never though to ask that either. Try cleaning your EGR valve, that might make some of that smoke go away too.
