i own a 2004 f250 with a 6.0 and it is running hot i run a programmer on it a edge and replaced the thermostat and sending unit and still runs hot checked the wire to the sending unit no power traced it out and goes to the ecm and no power there could it be my ecm bad or something else can anybody help me out thanks

 

What do you mean it's running hot? Do you have gauges for temps? What temps are you seeing. You should really check what oil temp vs. coolant temp is. Have you tried removing the edge and seeing if it still runs hot? Was there any reason you replaced the thermostat? (were you just throwing parts at it in hopes of clearing the issue) Just need a little more info here to help you out!

 

yes just taking a chance on parts trying to fix the problem by the factory gage it's running normal but by my programmer it run up to 226 degrees and i cant hear my fan coming on even when im not pulling my camper it runs around 202 degrees on a hill

 

Doesn't sound too hot to me. You'll know when the fan comes on, it is LOUD. I've ONLY heard mine when I've been really low on coolant (when it was puking coolant from the headgaskets failing). I had been down so much coolant that I no longer had heat in the cab, and even then it still took a while for the fan to come on. Just the way they are. As long as my coolant is where it needs to be, my fan doesn't even come on in the middle of summer towing my camper (around 5k lbs) with a towing tune on (about 70hp over stock).

Can you check oil temp with that too? Check oil temp and coolant temp at the same time and see where they are. They should never be more than 15 degrees apart. Check it after a good blast up a hill. As soon as you let off, read it and see what they say.

 

ok ichecked my temps. my engine was 204 degrees and my oil temp. was 218 degrees and i cant understand if i got a 190 degree thermostat should the fan come on at least 200 degrees dont understand thanks for all your help

 

If you have a 190 thermostat, that just means it opens at that temp... I don't think the fan kicks on in these trucks til 215 or something like that. I don't recall the exact temp. Once the fan does kick on it will drop coolant temps pretty fast.
