Default 94 f250 shut off solenoid wires, both hot, blown fuses

I have a 94 f250 7.3 turbo that shut down on me just like I shut the key off. I checked the wire going to the shut off solenoid with my tester and no power. Checked the 20 amp fuse on the fender and it had blown. Installed a new one and had power. Put the wires back on and the rear wire twards the air cleaner activated the shut off, or made the click you listen for. Went to put the front wire on it, and it acted like a short. With in a few seconds I heard the fuse blow again. I check both wires after put another new fuse in and both are hot. I also own a 92 7.3 idi non turbo and checked the wires on it to see if both are hot, but only the front one is and the rear is not. I never had issues with the shut off solenoid going bad but I'm thinking something is up and both wires shouldn't be hot. Is this the case? If so I'm pretty confident my solenoid is bad and I need to run down a short in the line before I put a new one in. Thanks for any thoughts.

Update, the shut off solenoid is cracked, so that must be causing the short. I'll order a new one in the morning.

Update to finish this thread in case anyone ever has the same quesitons I did. I replaced the shut off solenoid and everything is working as it should again. Both wire need to be hot, as one is for the shut off and the other is for the return solenoid. For what ever reason my old 92 f250 had a dead wire on the fuel return. Fixed that as well and runs better at idle but must not of had any fuel returning since who knows when.
