I thought that sounded a little odd having a drain plug on a torque converter... I'm am the opposite of an automatic transmission expert.

I had my torque converter explode in my 5R110 at about 41,000 miles. Dealer never asked me for proof of fluid change or anything of that nature, but they warrantied it. I hadn't changed anything on it, no filters, no fluids, nothing, so glad they didn't ask I guess... It still should have lasted longer than that though. I wrote it off as a fluke. New reman tranny is holding up great.

I replace my trans fluid as follows:
Warm up the truck/trans. Pull the plug, drain pan.
Replace the fluid.
Warm the truck up/trans 20 mins. of driving.
Pull the plug, drain pan.
Replace the fluid, second time.
Warm up the truck/trans 20 mins. of driving.
Pull the plug, drain pan.
Remove pan. Clean the inside and magnet.
Replace the pan. Replace the external filter.
Replace the fluid, third time.

This replaces about 75% of the trans fluid.
I think I may start to replace i jug of trans fluid every motor oil change to keep it (tran fluid) fresh.
I know it's over kill but I feel better knowing I have done all I could for my 6.0.

Sir you are mistaken, I have a 93 F350 with a 351 gas and an E4OD and theres a rubber plug on the bottom of the bellhousing and a drain plug in the torque converter. I know this to be fact because on my last trans service I drained it, so some do have a drain plug.

Every time someon has a trans problem they take it and get it flushed, where do you think all the particles and burnt fluid go, right into the trans flush machine. Do you think they clean the system between vehicles ? I'll give you a hint NO ! JUst drop your pan change your filter, and if possible drain the torque converter, don't contaminate your trans with somebody elses problems. If you're concerned that you cant drain the TC change it run it for a day and change it again, that will be the best way to Flush it.

Another good point, be sure you're putting the right fluid in it Universal ATF
