I didn't read the whole reply by Hypertech because I stopped once it started talking about spark timing. Obviously just copied from their website, and it probably does fix speedo readings on some trucks, but I still don't think it will do our trucks. I've yet to see any programmer that will. Last I knew, the tru-speed was the only way. (I know there is another similar product out, but I can't remember the name of it.)

innovative and/or elite can give you all the fancy options on the SCT too, but that doesn't change the difference in the performance

I still dont have an answer as to how this programmer is capable of doing this and none of the others are... but thanks for responding. It is appreciated, though I'm sure you feel like you might be getting beat up in this thread. What is it that your programmer can access that the others can't that allows you to fix this?

The SCT can NOT change the odometer or speedometer at all.... that is why I'm wondering how the hypetech can. The transmission tuning alone is worth getting the SCT vs. brand "X" but to each his own.

Speedometer Calibrator ***********(copied from web site) ******

If you’ve installed tires that are larger or smaller than original equipment tires, or if you have installed a ring and pinion gear set with a different rear gear ratio, the Speedometer Calibrator allows you to re-program for correct speedometer and odometer readings, as well as correct part-throttle shifting. The vehicle’s computer calculates your vehicle’s speed based on the diameter of the stock tires. If you’ve installed taller or shorter tires, or changed the rear gear ratio, the vehicle’s computer doesn’t know how fast your vehicle is going.
************************************************** ****************
By correcting this information in the vehicles computer the speedometer display will read accurately and the transmission will shift at the proper time.
************************************************** ****************
Sorry ***can't speak for others or why they cannot.

id go with sct. the canned tunes are nice until u can afford to do headstuds.

ive got sct w livewire which lets u watch 6 gauges at once (thats a big money saver)

un like what hypertech said u get to choose ur shift firmness (firmness is determined by the tune but it u want it more firm you can do that)
you can turn egr on or off (dtcs r bad)
revs/mile
jake brake (if you have one)
lock the torque converter when coasting
lock the torque converter in 1-3
aggressive tow/haul (for later shifts)
change shift points at wot
and something else that i forgot

now i have to let u know its an expensive little unit but with 4 tunes along with 1 that is just trans tuning its great. plus u get to put 3 custom tunes on if and when you want

the 4 tunes r as follows
performance
street
65hp tow
50hp tow
plus all of the options listed above can be turned on or off with any of the turns

also im bias bc ive only run a superchip and now the sct so idk anything about hypertech except for the one time i drove my cuzs dmax

I'd still get the custom tunes, since they come free with the purchase of the SCT. Just because you don't have headstuds doesn't mean you need to get the most aggressive tune out there. The custom tunes are still better than the canned tunes. Riddick, the "jake brake" is done on the tunes using the VGT on the stock turbo, it's not a true jake brake by any means but it simulates an exhaust brake. I never really noticed a lot of difference with it, but guys who tow say they see a bigger difference. Also the revs/mile is just to change the transmission settings, it wont change your speedo or odometer. The tuning does more than just shift firmness as well, but the user can adjust that themselves. I would recommend NOT touching the WOT shifting unless your tuner tells you to. That is set up in the tunes.

The X3 and new livewires have a lot more options than my X2 does that's for sure.

ya ur right mud. but the new livewires have 2 jake brakes on them the built in on that u talked about then u can wire up a true jake break and it goes to the second (thats what i was told idk if its true)

SCT is hands down the best programmer on the market for the 6.0. The others fall short on power and transmission shifting.
