Default whats it worth

I just came across a 85 f350 6.9 with a 4 speed the man said it has a blown head gasket and has been sitting for several years. body is typical for its age interior the same. thought it might make a good second truck or maybe parts for someone else. I get tired of people exspecting me to give my stuff away so i dont want to low ball the guy but I dont want to get took either. he said make him an offer any help would be great.

Is it 4WD?

If not, the most is about what it would be worth for scrap. The 6.9 is notorious for stretching head bolts, and if it has a done that and/or blown the head gasket, there is coolant in the oil, and if it has been sitting for however long "several years" is, you can plan on a full engine rebuild, which is going to cost about 5x what the truck is worth.

If it's 4WD there may be value in the transmssion and transfer case for a swap of some sort, but the TTB independent front end on those is worth nothing...if it has the Dana 60 solid front axle, you have some value there.

The Sterling rear end is worth about $100 to the right buyer, but you'd be waiting a bit to find said buyer.
