So my buddy has a 98.5 auto 260k on it. Busted a valve spring a little over a year ago. Valve is still in the head and didn't run it long after it did it. He is only wanting 3k for it and it's a nice truck BUT what scares me is he took it to his clueless father and he took the oil pan off and it has been off ever since then... almost a year and a half later. Is it worth it? What's a good guess of what's hurt?

 

Check and see if the motor will turn by hand. Valve job shouldn't be to bad. Look for any damage from the pan being removed.

 

Valves arent my concern as much as the oil pan being off for going on 2 years. Idk if its worth the risk.
