My truck seems to be running good and everything shes even starting without glow plugs now without ether. but its white-smoking a decent amount. runs rough on startup and shakes the whole truck pretty good but when it gets warm it smooths out but keeps puffing white smoke. not a crazy amount but its there. any ideas? ill check the o-rings on the injectors. oh and is there o rings where the lines connect to the pump as well that i should check? thanks in advance

 

Air in the fuel ... the filter head on these engines are prone to leaking air into them , which causes the fuel to retrun to tank after sitting for severl hours of sitting ... then when ya start it , The Injection Pump only has the fuel in it to start with , then the Lift pump is playing catch up .... Try swaping out the Fuel filter first ( I use a BF-1222) it has no fuel bowl on the bopttom to leak and such , then go from there..

 

i just changed the fuel filter a couple hundred miles ago. so what should i do then?

 

Ok, the stock fuel filter is a 2 piece unit .... the bowl you screw on @ the bottom ... Prone to leaking ... causing loss of prime ...

Hence i suggested the swapo to a BF1222 filter .. this has NO bowl on the bottom and is a 1 pc filter.. fill with ATF ( DEXTRON ) and spin it on .. report what happens after that ..

If this dosent fix the issue , I know of a bunch of other things that can cause the issue , but best to do one @ a time ..
