i have a 94 7.3 idi turbo . it idles great runs great , but when i hit the throttle and let up it dies. restarts immediately and idles fine . if i rev it up and release it it dies sometimes it doesnt but it still tries to dies as if fuel shut off solenoid is shutting off. even though i dont think it is .
the engine was pulled from another truck that did not do this prior to swap so it has me puzzled . original had rod go through oil pan at 589,000 miles

 

Sounds like a the valve in the Injector pump is stuck, pull the filter and fill it with seafoam then run it, should unstick it and cure the issue, can also use ATF

 

thank you . i have not tried that yet but i prime my filters with atf .

 

good idea ... been doin that for years my self .... since my first detroit 8v92 build ...
