Default 7.3 upgrades??

so, as of now i'm only 14, about to turn 15. My dad told me he is giving me his 1994 f250 turbodiesel idi. I was wondering what upgrades i could do, or any tweaks i could do to get more power. As of now the only things done to it is we straight piped it, and turned the fuel up a little on it, but other than that it's stock. Any help would be appreciated!

Default well.....

well you arent going to need more power unless your one of those people who have a diesel for the look and think their cool or your hauling heavy loads, whats your reason for wanting more power

Well, its not that I'm power hungry, I want to get better mileage. I'm not expecting anything over 19, but I'm only getting about 14 now, and I'll be driving this truck for quite a while.

first thing to tackle would be the breathing of the engine which would be a good aftermarket air filter to improve air flow, gearing in the differential could be a low ratio for towing, you can get different gearing but thats expensive, and performance chips, yours will have a computer and you can get performance chips from pretty much any company but i would suggest TS performance chips.

First JRauton18 if he has a 1994 IDI turbo engine this is a NON computerized engine... no performance chips... different if he has the 1994.5 POWERSTROKE that is not an IDI and is computerized... but you are correct on air intake aftermarket filter to help. Another thing would be to get rid of the stock downpipe if that hasnt been done already to free up the exhaust side.

94 idi engines are mechanical not electrical and can not use chips. and i se why you want more power even if you dont need it its awesome!! turning up the wastgate will help as will adding a water/meth unit (its worth it) also a cold air intake and bigger downpipe will help. you can turn up the ip if you want more power but it wont help your fuel econemy

You can run more boost, but you will need studs.

If u run boost .... u will neeed a lot more than just studs ..... about 10psi is truly a maximum ... yes u could run more but relaibility becomes an issue .... unless u wanna spend some real cash ... keep it simple big air cleaner , big exhaust , and keep ur coolant sca's in check .... toss in some atf in the tank .... full quart for the first two tanks then half quart after that .... keeps injectors clean .... Pm me if u want specific info

One huge thing with mileage is just get your fuel pump set nice. Too high and you're wasting fuel burning it as smoke
