Default RUST!

hey guys, i started to get surface rust on my wheel wells so about 6 months ago i sanded the paint off all the way to the rust and wire wheel brushed that off to so there was no more remaining, cleaned the dust and residue off very well and used pre-paint spray to remove any residue then i applied roll on bed liner ( i did a very good job and took my time on all of this), but i just went to the carwash and i looked and the rust is coming through the bedliner!!! any ideas on what to do?? i wanna fix this before it eats all the way through the metal. any help/what have you guys done? or did i do something wrong?

Rust starts on a microscopic level and is very hard to get all of it removed so it doesnt come back which is why some people refer to it as a cancer. Did you seal off the bare metal with an epoxy primer or at least a self etch. I be willing to bet that all the rust wasnt removed or because it wasnt sealed that moisture was able to penetrate the bed liner. I'm no professional body guy but I've dealt with it on my own vehicle and have done a ton of research and asked hundreds of questions to anybody that will listen. Just offering my 2 cents hopefully somebody with more knowledge will chime in.

no i did not seal it and that was my problem. has anyone used phosphoric acid? i tried it at the farm and it makes the rust turn black and supposivly catalizes it and stops it completely. but i dont know who makes products similar to that...

When I painted my truck I used it on nonvisible areas like on my inner rear wheel arches, I was told that it could cause problems with the paint like bubbling so I did not use it on the outside but since your in the wheel well and using bedliner it should be alright just make sure you wash any residue off after it has done its job and make sure to prep with a good wax and grease remover and I would still try to seal it if possible. Good Luck
