Clean Diesel: For College Speech Class

Wiki can point you to the right areas to look, just don't use them as a source because of the spin that the Wiki article writer puts on it.
Look for the sections titled "References", "External Links", and "See Also" from the following link:
Ultra-low sulfur diesel - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Keep using Wiki for info, just don't read much from the article and go straight to these sections I've mentioned.
I still recommend you look towards the European sites for better information. North America (specifically the US) has no love for diesels because of the early ones from GM, like the Olds 350 modified. This engine belched smoke like California does during the fire season, performed horribly, was loud, and could stink up your neighborhood in no time.
The Europeans, on the other hand, love diesel. Check out the Audi race cars, VW's new diesel electric hybrid that gets 70 MPG, the ATSM for biodiesel (ATSM D 6751-08), and the article in Popular Mechanics titled "The Case for Diesel: Clean, Efficient, Fast Cars (Hybrids Beware!)".
You should have enough to get started, just make sure you document your reference material.

You are right on the money. The comparision could be used to address the EU and how it does what we can't seem to.
Another option of this paper could be that with diesel you can really use biofuels which completely removes the requirement of foriegn oil. Of course everyone from government, oil companies and the idiots that think the corn we eat is the same as what we'd burn don't want to hear that but it could be worth noting.
Another might be the successful testing of the Benz Diesel Hybrid which was supposed to have 90+ MPG where it uses diesel, electric drives on the transmission and has water injection. I have not actually seen it but it made a blurb in popular mechanics a while back.
It was good you pointed out the Audi race car - remember a few years back (2 at most) when it won the LeMans because it didn't need to stop as many times for fuel but instead only for tires! V12 diesel power - very impressive.

True I wasn't born til the late 80's, but I do know a little bout what millco is sayin, not nearly enough by any means, but enough to get the gist of the matter. I do know Wiki is partially a starting point, with several topics and helpful ideas to look deeper into, but we're told to stay away from it as much as possible.
I have yet to look into Blue Tech, but thanks for remindin me.
My main points are goin to be how other countries have successfully incorporated diesel vehicles without havin to sacrifice efficiency. As many of yall have pointed out, the U.S. really needs to get their program together in the diesel department. We are too dependent on foreign oil for the gas engines, and that's screwin us over pretty good.
But, again, this speech has to be more informative than persuasive, so I'll hold back on some things.
I like the bio-fuels idea, I'm all for it an wish more people would get the gist of it, so I'll prolly use that one in my follow-up speech, a persuasive one.
Thank guys for what yall think.

Its funny because back when I started poking around on forums the old timers talked about the oil embargo of the 70's and I was just a wee little lad back then. So you are much the same as I was and I find that kinda cool. I'm guessing there is anywhere from 10 to 15 years difference between us.
