I drive both 5spd cummins and a duramax auto(dad's).For pulling the 5spd is great but for around town auto is the way to go.I wish there was a best of both worlds tranny as I get older the auto is feeling better and better.

I would have an auto in a second if I could afford the upgrades to it but I can't so there is no way I would have one. In my world that's what it comes down to. In the factory condition they just don't handle the torque these Cummins Monsters produce if you start addin upgrades to the truck.

I have had both and i tow and do around town driving. Personally i'm glad i went to manual and will probably never go back to an auto. Driving a manual puts the fun back into driving and i can still eat up little ricers with fart cans when i need to
