try flushing the coolant system. also, what temps this thing running? keep in mind that under sustained heavy loads, itll run a lot hotter then normal, our completely stock 99 that we use for towing runs about 170 degrees empty but with a fully loaded 26 ft cattle trailer or the camper, itll run about 200-205 @ highway speeds

My 98.5 runs about 190 which is its normal running temp but when i get it loaded it runs between 205 and 215... jus depends on the load. but is it going to hurt it running that temp? I was just worried because when it gets that hot i dont want to mess something up.

My dads 04.5 runs 200 at its normal temp and when its loaded it runs about 205 to 210 is that bad?

i agree, flush the cooling system good. but 215 is border line, the question is if it stays up there or does it just spike for a little bit and then come down? it wont hurt it right away, but prolonged runs in that temp could. I would flush the crap out of it, new t-stat and see what happens. course my 99 with 150hp injectors runs hot unloaded anyway, 195ish even with a new radiator and coolant. but thats with a 450hp plus truck on stock turbo. totally different then our towing rig though

dumb question, whats the ambient temp outside when it hits 215?

I changed the thermostat yesterday and it seems to not take as long to warm up. and i wash the radiator out about once a week when hauling hay... when i get the time im going to flush it out and go from there.. Um the temp outside when it gets that hot is anywhere from 90 to 98 prolly.. but when it heats up i let off and it will cool down to about 200 but im affraid if i dont do something one day its not going to cool off and blow up or something.

Since things are kinda slow for me right now im going to do some work to it. I was driving it last nIght testing the new thermostat and the idler pully went out on me so i gota get that fixed. and on top that I have got to pull the transmission saturday so it can be rebuilt.. I hope to have it all straight before hay season starts.

Blowing out the radiator helps washing with water hose is good also but high pressure water like from a car wash works the best but be careful not to damage the fins on the a/c cond.

what setting are you running the edge at when pulling???
