Question 4BT LTD 55 MPH Question?

I just can't break the 55 MPH speed barrier.

Yes, I have low rearend gears: but I changed my wheels from 19.5" to 16."
Did I just make things worse?

Auxiliary Transmission?
Overdrive/Underdrive Units?

I would like to reach 85 MPH for the highway, and Interstate.
Is changing my rearend gears my only option?
How tall is too tall?

I would still like to be able to tow a trailer when needed.

If you went with a smaller tire size which I'm sure you did with a 16" rim, yes you made the gearing lower in fact. What rearend is in this thing? Regearing would be wayyyy cheaper than an aux unit for the trans. Whats the factory gearing?

Are you running out of RPM? If that's the issue, you need taller gearing or taller tires. If you just don't make the horsepower to break 55 mph, something's probably not right withthe 4BT.

I'm still working on an answer. I told the shop not to set the trani over on the bellhousing but I think the did it anyway, and bent the input shaft.
