dana 70 rearend is shot
well my truck is out of comission for a while. ring and pinion is shot along with the gear for the abs. not 4 sure yet if anything else is toast. how can i remove the whole center section? i have the two end caps off and i know there must be sum way to dissconect it form the axles but im not for sure. is this a job i can tackle and rebuild myself or pay someone to do it? any good places to look for replacement parts that wont cost me an arm and a leg? what kinda money am i lookin at here? thanks

yes you can do it but it is difficult i have the rearend setting bible (aka how to do it) any idiot can do one but it takes time and skill to do it right other wise you can get noise premature bearing and parts failure
what do you mean by the end caps are off?
disconnect the drive-line then if you pull the 8 or 10 bolts off the axle flange in the center of the rear wheels and hit them in the center with a hammer they should pop then slide out if you have any old antifreeze jugs cut the broad side out of them and put them under the flange on the wheel to catch the oil when removing the nuts if the studs pull out no big deal. then remove the diff cover (on the back) this will expose the ring gear and carrier assembly it will have oil in it so have a drain pan ready before going any further get a dial indicator and check your backlash and runnout also get some grease paint to check your pattern note all this info to have a standard to go by upon reassembly
here's the bible
