try checking the pin in front like vette said first then try pulling the adaptor plate. you said your starter cant turn it over that sounds like something is definetly stopping it not just stuck, I dont think it has to do with you putting on the crank adaptor sounds more like direct interference, maybe to long of a bolt into the block somewere (motor or acc. mounts) best of luck

everything I've put onto the engine has been taken off.... still no go.
I'm either going to pull off the head, or maybe pull the injectors and squirt some liquid wrench down onto the cylinder heads? that might free them up, but I'm guessing even if I can get them free the block might be fucked anyways. Might not even be worth it....

well, no news on the old engine..... pretty sure it needs a full tear down.
But the good news is I bought a new one and its installed and running!
It still need some tweaking, and some loose ends sorted out, but its drivable!
My first concern is that its a bit gutless..... not sure why? but it doesnt have nearly the power that I figured it would.... less than my old 4cyl toyota with the exact trans and axles. I'm thinking its the alda? maybe but I cant find any good info on where that should be connected to, or how to adjust it? any good threads out there that anyone knows about?
oh, and just if anyones wondering, the efi fuel pump seems to work fine... it just feeds the engine more fuel than it needs, but it just pumps it back through the return hose.

If you don't have the Alda hooked up at all then that's your problem, the fitting at the rear of the intake is what you hook the alda line to. As for adjustment, loosen the nut on top and turn the screw ccw, but do not force it or it will damage the diaphram. Be carefull about too much pressure to the IP with the stock fuel pump, it can cause the front seal to fail and pump fuel in the crankcase. Sounds good though! I bumped the IP timing up a little and it woke it up alot.

I connected the alda after I got back, but I haven't taken it out since. I'll see what it does first, then maybe adjust accordingly.
Would the engine run without the fuel pump running?

and it does! no fuel pump required.... I love these engines
