Default '74 7.3 idi?

Well, I have a 1974 F250 4x4, and a 7.3 idi layin around. How big of a pain would it be to get that motor in that truck?

If you also have a diesel tranny, or at least a diesel pattern bellhousing for a T-18 or T19, it shouldn't be too hard. If you don't have that then you'll have to get it, 'cause the diesel and gasser bellhousing patterns are totally different...

I think I actually have the transmission too. its off of our 93 ford work truck that got stolen and chop shopped... Fortunately it was recovered. Unfortunately It was already butchered! I think I have a radiator transmission, motor and a few things.

Of course, I have no t-case, except for the gasser's t-case...

if it is a 4x4 tranny you can use your old transfer case, you just need to do a little clearancing for the shifter linkage.
or if you have a remote transfer case you just need to have the intermediate shaft shortened.

Yup, gasser and diesel transfer cases are the same. Its just the trannies that are different. If you have the diesel tranny then you're in good shape.

Default Well get with it

I'm trying to plan out a 6.9 or 7.3 swap into my 76 F150 4sp. So far I am still rounding up parts but I hope to retain my beloved 4spd. So far I have not had alot of luck finding the trans adapter. Will be watching this post hoping to pick up tips?

The swap is labor intensive but doable by one or two people over a Saturday/Sunday.
