im going to try the mt654 for now and see how it goes, because i already bought it, and i dont have an unlimited budget. as far as oregon fuel injection goes i have had a few bad experiances there, and probably wont take anything else there. Will there be any negative effect of the 13mm barrells and plungers such as driveability, and idle smoke? i dont mind some black smoke when i get on it, but i pickup and haul hay, which isnt fun when the truck is hazing on idle. do i need the 13mm plungers to get to 600hp if i am running propane as well? The pump is the older one, it is not the p pump, its pre 1993 somewhere, but an inline, and the screw instead of a fuel plate. i have the engine on a stand but dont have turbos on it because im waiting to put the engine in the truck to make the manifold for the twins. im using a mid 90's 210hp dt466 garrett turbo for the smaller one, and a turbo off of a cummins 350 hp, which may be a bit large , for the secondary turbo. i also need batteries and cables to run the starter, or i would try it without the turbos, just plugging off the oil lines.

also what should i do for a parking brake? the old 4L80E im pulling out had a drum on the tailshaft. i dont trust the linelocks, and the allison doesnt have a park gear or a drum on the output shaft. is there a kit to run a disk on the output yoke? or do i have to fab one up, and is there a caqliper available to connect to a cable so that i can run the foot parking brake to the caliper?

You don't need 13mm barrels and plungers to get 600hp out of one. That is a lot of fuel. Even if it has 11mm plungers in it you should be able to get close to your 600 goal. It is either an M&W, an A series pump, or maybe even a nippendenso. That top turbo you are going to use may not like being in twins if it is the garrett I'm thinking it is. They have a hard enough time on their own. It sounds like your bottom charger is a HT3B. If it is it is around a 76mm compressor. It should work ok on it for a small set on a 466. As far as a park brake, can you get one from a MT643 and use the same output yoke if need be? I know a lot of the hydraulic brake FL70's have them.

this project has been on the back burner for a while, but im getting back to it. i am convinced that i need an overdrive tranny, i have looked into a 6,7,9,10,13,18 speed, but the clutch linkage and the physical size of the trans looks like it may be a problem, and my legs are too long to get on the clutch without opening the door. i am looking into an allison MD3060 or 3000MH, it seems one of those would be best. the question is, how hard is it to get one of those to shift right with a mechanical engine, i have searched online to no avail. does anyone make a standalone unit? can the factory computer be adapted to control it behind the 466?

also i have an old vt50 turbo, will it flow ok?

Hi Murf im building about the same thing the only thing that might be a problem is the #2 bell housing i had to cut off the mounting ears where the rear mounts attach in order to lower the cab if you put a 2" body lift on it you may get away with it but i believe the 466 is some what taller also you may want to make sure your starter is on the driver side mine is on the passenger side and i will have to figure out routing the exhaust.i was thinking of putting in a Cummins ISL-400HP but after looking at everthing i decided to go the 5.9 route i would have had to put the radiator in the back of the truck and cut the cab up and remove part of the heater box anyhow i hope some of my mistakes helps you out.

i looked at your build, it looks like it is going great, i will definately do the 3" body lift, or there is no way the 466 will fit. i will be torching up my core support for the radiator and minor trimming on the grille, and electric fans. i am trying to figure any way an intercooler will fit but it looks like my only otion is integrating it into a winch bumper. i looked at the possibility of stretching the hood and fenders but that looks like way too much work. are you planning on running twins on your truck? you will probably either have to torch on the cab or run outside the frame to clear the starter with the exhaust, i believe thay make a bell with the starter on the driver side like my 466 has.

i bought an allison MD3060P with a PTO, out of a good running truck, man that tranny is HUGE i am wondering if anyone knows where to get the flywheel, crank adapter, and flexplate to hook this tranny to my dt466. i called a used truck parts shop and they told me the 3060 was only put behind the 94 and newer NGD dt466 and 466E, which have a 12 bolt crank, and mine is the older 92 block with the 8 bolt crank and MW pump. i have the flywheel for a 654 allison but it is much different than the newer allison flywheels. am i going to have to machine the crank adapter and a billet flexplate?
i have also been working on building the dana 70HD 4" tube front axle, man the parts are expensive.
