Default which transmission

I bought a 2000 xlt Ranger 4x4 with a siezed up 3.0 v-6. It has a automatic transmission. Which transmission should I look for to do my Kubota v2203 swap? Are all the M5ODs the same for all years? Any help on which to search for will be appreciated.

The 2.3 and the 3.0 have the same size bell but the starter wart is on opposite sides. The 4.0 has a larger bell and may have a little different gearing. They will all fit but the adapter will be specific to each. the speedo runs off the rear axle on later years, not sure what the change is so I would get one that the book says will fit your year, and I would go 3.0 so you have the correct measurements to go by.

We are looking into the AW4 out of the Cherokee as a good auto choice, it has a stand alone computer and the 4.0 it is behind runs similar rpm's so the shift points are good for the Kubota. Another plus is the transfer case is driver side drop so it will fit the Ranger perfect.

I think Im going to try to dupe the sensors. Might even leave the distributorin the try and mount it harmlessly out of thd way. Cam sensor...crank sensor...throttle positioning sensor...and even the O2 sensors should be doable I think. May have to snip the wire to the "check engine" light but unless someine on here can see something I dont Im not sure what else the computer needs to know...anyone...

Kinda what I thought too. Its the same adapter plate. So it could be worth a try. At worst I would have to fine an M5OD which I was going to have to do anyway.
