Om617 96 Jeep Cherokee build thread
Thanks, I got talked out of using the AW4 on my first Cherokee build and always wondered, so I did the last Cherokee just to see for myself and to find out if I wanted an auto or manual in my final rig. It turned out great, but the 5 mpg hit and the loss of the "fun" factor of the stick I decided the a 6 speed was the ticket.
Yep, 5 mpg! Keep in mind that's with the V2203 Kubota, so even with the loss it still got a solid 34 mpg average as my DD work commuter rig. And it was 4x4 with no front driveline disconnect, so there might have been a bit of drag. The nice thing about the AW4 is the converter locks in direct as well as od.
No progress yet, I've been super busy and my current engine hasn't given it up yet. I did get everything powder coated.
Nice! I look forward to hearing about it when you do swap that combo in. I'm going to try some Cerakote on my new engine. And yes, it will be a "new" engine. I've put Cerakote finishes on firearms for friends, and really like results the durability.
