Ok, without further ado. The pump is on and has been running daily for the last week. I did not drip time it as Mercedes FSM says, I did the listen and turn method. Real lucky, lined up the hash marks on the pump to the one on the block and BAM lit right up. I adjusted probably 10 times in both advanced and retard directions, ended up splitting the hash marks towards the retard side.

Impressions.
The idle is set a little low at 750rpm, and lopes just a tiny bit more then before but is still smooth. The MW pump idled at 850rmp which makes it feel better. I'll be turning up the idle sometime.

The power, WOW....right off idle its way more powerful but the ALDA doesn't let the IP fuel until 5psi of boost then the WOW happens. At 5psi and up the IP fuels unrestricted by the ALDA. With 13psi of boost from the factory turbo you can lay diwn a pretty good smoke screen. And I though this level was incredible......I was wrong. I'd guess 160-170hp at this point. Can easily run up the EGTs with all that fuel after 30sec of open throttle. Feels real good!

I couldn't get my turbo to boost more than 13psi so I decided to clamp the wastegate line.....This power level feels WOW. My gauge only goes to 15psi. With waste gate fixed shut boosting from 5psi to 16psi happens within 2 seconds. All that boost with only 1/3 throttle and no smoke. I cant floor it fast enough to make smoke before I max out my gauge. With feathering throttle to keep boost within gauge range and at only 1/3 pedal I'd guess 180-190hp. What is really amazing is it feels like a completely different vehicle. No more trying to maintain speed up hills and dropping gears and revving up to pass, this thing will sprint the hill like nothing!

So right now I'm stuck between 13psi waste gated and full throttle use with lots of smoke or 16psi limited throttle to not blow up turbo. In between these two lies an amazing machine. For now I need to buy an inline boost controller or something. Soon to come will be the Hx30w gated at 20psi, should be amazing.

So you like this, eh? Sounds very cool! I hope to someday follow suit and get a Dieselmeken pump for my rig as well. Thanks for all of your info, and definitely let us know how the new turbo goes.

so do you have to add/change oil to the M-pump?

For the plain drivability the pump is worth it, it changes everything. 5 years ago this pump was almost unattainable and would have cost $3000, thanks to Dieselmeken that has change. Got a great deal on the Hx30w from a Holset vendor in Norway, should be here in a week.

I filled the pump before installing it. Goran told me not to worry about it and that it should self lube. If you look at the picture the M pump on the right has the oil notch closer to the bottom instead if straight up, I believe this allows oil to more easily reach the internals without a feed line. I have not checked the level yet but I can tell you that the side cover on the pump has weeped some very black oil from what appears to be an over tightened gasket, proof enough for me!

newby here.
I am driving two jeep 2.1 turbodiesels and they do good for me. just for reference about 24 mpg. Not a lot of power.

Would like to know if anybody tried to keep the automatic flywheel / flexplate from the mercedes and weld new mounting bolts on a aw4 or r700 torgue converter?
Is the r700 better then the existing aw4 besides the computer complications?

Great thread and info

Thank you

J

Yes I have, I cut the front portion off the Mercedes torque converter and used that as an adapter to the 700r4 converter keeping the Mercedes flywheel. It worked great, that said I wouldn't pick the 700r4 again. I would use the AW4, it's a far better trans.
