For towing, simplicity, and longevity, yes.
To rip the fastest 1/4 mile, I disagree. If I did a lot of towing I would have a manual as well. But since SHE cant drive stick, and I don't pull much, Auto I chose.

 

true that.. auto does get boring at times tho

 

Some days I wish I had a stick in my service truck. On pipeline right of ways, logging roads, and other trails. The ol' 6.0 and Auto don't communicate the way I want. With all that said, I think GM and Allison have it figured out.

 

An I just swapped the manual out of my truck and installed an auto. My life isn't complicated enough.

i like my trucks dumb. if i want it in 4th gear its in 4th gear. if i want it in fifth gear....well i shoulda put in a five speed but theres just more control, they're tougher, and they dont **** me off as much

 

 

Tougher? Debatable. Harder on stuff? absolutely.
