Default 99 gmc 6.5

i just brought a 99 3500 dually with the 6.5...200000 miles

the guy said it had locked up while idling...and said it wouldnt crank

i get to it and the batteries were dead,i put battery chargers on it and she started right up...

it squeaks really bad...i took the serpentine belt off and is sounds like everything in the front is not lubricated...like just parts dry and rubbing ...

also sounds like its trying to seize up again..but doesnt...

does not knock or rattle...but it seems the motor is "tight"

any issues with this engine that may be causing this or do i need to rebuild?

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

also what year 6.5s will work??? mine is a 99...will a 6.5 out of a 94 work?

they both are turbo diesels..

yeah all gm diesels from 1982 to 2000 will fit just need to carry over the parts. dampeners on these go bad. fluiddampr is a good choice. the oil on the cylinder walls probably dried up if he let it sit a long time thats why it feels tight. see how much blowby it has out of the oil cap when its warmed up.

well its only been sitting 3 days now...and by tight i mean when it starts i turn it off real quick...sounds like the timing chain area has no oil in it and metal to metal type squeaking/tightness...

i may pull the front cover tomorrow just to look...
